What a Season!
After countless volunteered hours prior to the 2008/09 season, the Balmoral Curling Club looked like a shiny new penny. There was new paint, new flooring, new signage.....a new vibe in the building but would it translate into an increase in curlers and spectators? Without a doubt, last season was a complete success for the Balmoral Curling Club. We saw in increase of 35% in our league teams as well as a whopping 100% increase of bonspiel teams. From a financial point of view, the club saw increased revenues from the extra curlers as well as fundraising projects that were very well supported. Curl Balmoral would like to thank everyone that volunteered time or financially supported our efforts last year. We look forward to continued sucess in the 2009/10 season.
More Improvements
Thanks to a strong 2008/09 season, Curl Balmoral is happy to announce more improvements for our club. The first major purchase is a new ice scraper which will only have a positive impact on the already great ice we had last season. The unit we have purchased is an "Ice Master Boss" which can be seen at almost all major curling events throughout the world.
Our second major improvement will be an additional tv in the lounge this year. Curl Balmoral has purchased two 46" Toshiba Regza LCD HDTVs for your viewing pleasure. Two crystal clear tvs will be a great addition this year in the lounge...especially with Olympic curling to watch.
Honourary Life Members
Not since 1990 have there been any Honourary Life Members (HLM) recognized by Curl Balmoral so for many of this years recipients, this event has been long overdue. This acknowledgement is just a small token toward many worthy people in the Balmoral curling community. The following list of new HLMs will live forever in the history of the Balmoral Curling Club.
